Maybe this thread will be popular and maybe it won't, but I needed a place to show off my newest acquisitions, so here it is. I picked these three up on eBay yesterday, from the same seller, for what I believe to be a very good price. They haven't arrived yet and I'm on vacation, so the pictures are from the seller.

Bust Half Fever First Edition by Edgar E. Sounders- This is the book I'm most excited about, partly because I've heard great things and because Bust Half Dollars are my favorite series. I don't know what the stain is on the front, but I'll try to get it off when it gets to my house, I paid $26 for it plus $2 shipping.

A Registry of Half Dollar Die Varieties and Sub-Varieties by M. L. Beistle- Always happy to add another book about half dollars to my collection. I paid $10 for it plus $2 shipping.
    $T2eC16hHJHUFFf9eWRGtBRpOvly1Ew~~60_57.jpg
A Buyer's and Enthusiast's Guide to Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents by Q. David Bowers- My second favorite series is the Indian Head Cent but I have spent nearly as much time studying them as I have Bust Half Dollars, so after I read Bust Half Fever I'm going to start working my way through this book and hopefully expand my knowledge of Indian Head Cents and even "dip my toe" into Flying Eagle Cents. Also, I forgot to mention, I have already read Rick Snow's book on the subject, so I hope this adds onto that. I paid $10 plus $2 shipping for it.

Well, that's it for today, feel free to post your favorite numismatic reads or if you're a bibliophile, let's see some of those rare coin books!

Thanks, I thought I got a pretty good deal on the Beistle. I'm not sure why I got it for the starting bid, maybe because he listed it in the wrong category, whatever it is I'm happy i got it. I'm really excited to get Bust Half Fever.
    Thanks for the reply,
    Jesse

Hmm, here is a couple of pics of my better coin books from about 2 years ago:

I have added about 50 volumes since then. Not really wanting to take each down for individual photography. :(

Wow, it's fun to think about the endless knowledge contained in those books. It puts into perspective how large of a field numismatics really is. Have you read all of them?
    Thanks for sharing.

OK, my latest is this 9 volume set of Corpvs Nvmmorvm Romanorvm by. A. Banti, 1980-1982 featuring 1223 images and minimal descriptive text on Roman Republican coins issued by 'family' moneyers. The book covers all metals but does not address anonymous issues. 240 pages of volume two cover the issues of the family Calpurnia. I have three coins of these. Perhaps that is why no one tries to get a complete set but the books serve well to illustrate all the variations and styles as well as what genuine coins should look like. In truth, this set should belong to a specialist Republican collector but I felt the urge to take up on the opportunity when it was presented.

I have a quick question for my fellow Cointalkers and was wondering if someone could help me out. Although I don't like making things all about money, I received my copy of A Registry of Half Dollar Die Varieties and Sub-Varieties and to my surprise found a copyright date of 1929 on the cover page. That makes this an original correct? Because of the nature of the book, I have a feeling it will spend most of it's time on my bookshelf, if I were to sell the book what do you think would be an appropriate asking price. Or do you think I would be better suited keeping the book.
    Thank you in advance,
    Jesse

The Souders book is fantastic and you won it at a terrific level. The Beistle book has little numismatic worth today, but it is one of the pioneering works on half dollar die marriages and is important enough in an historical sense that I even referenced it when I wrote the Introduction to the Reeded Edge half dollar book that Dick Graham and I published last year. The Beistle book was published in 1929 and that might be the only printing, though it comes in two or three cover colors, if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I'm already 25 pages into Bust Half Fever and loving it. I knew I had to buy the Sounders and Beistle books as soon as I saw them. As for the Indian Head cent book I thought it was going to be a closer look at the varieties, which it isn't, but it teaches me to look further into something before buying. It's still a nice reference though, and not a big loss.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the book.

If I showed my books, there would be a thirty page thread.

This is my coin book shelf. No auction catalogs are kept here. Obviously I've got more empty space than coin books.

I have to perform a major adjustment on the shelves soon. Many books are too tall for the current shelf spacing.

Added two more this past week, not as much books as they are attribution guides. If you guys didn't already know I'm a huge fan of die varieties.

Top 100 Vam Book- 4th Edition (Just arrived at my house about 5 minutes ago so I'm flipping through it right now)

I'm on page 125 of Bust Half Fever, I'm going to write a review of it and post it here when I'm done.
Anyway, thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day!

I don't have photos, but I do have a list handy of what is in my numismatic library, although there are additional TAMS issues not shown in the list. There are many more titles I would like to add, if only I could find them. The earliest reference in my library was published in 1858 (would love to buy at those prices!). In case anyone is wondering, yes, I do collect all of the types of exonumia represented by the books in my library.

Hi Green, There are many more titles I would like to have, but finding some of those references are as difficult as finding some of the tokens I've spent years trying to find. Now that I'm back to work (after 26 months of unemployment here in the Rust Belt) I'm either working myself to death or I'm out riding. I start getting ready for work at 4:30 am and don't return home until nearly 7pm. Last year I logged just over 37,400 miles on the scooters, but about 25K of that was from my daily commute. I was on a work mission trip to Guatemala in Feb, and on another to Buckhannon, WV just a few weeks ago. You never know where I might turn up.
