that doesn't read quite the way it I thought it did; or it's more confusing then it needs to be.....basically - the actual mintage on them is suspected to be much lower than has been reported in the guides.
At one time world coin knowledge was not just a Google a way . Same thing with die variety . Books ya had to order and waiting . Today sometimes their to much information that somehow change mintages die variety . I just hope coin news doesn't get like cable and network news .
Eh-heh-heh ... sorry brothers, but I am defenseless against these lil' gold quarters ... Composition: 99.99% pure gold Mintage: 10,000 Weight (g): 0.5 Diameter (mm): 11 Face Value; 25 cents Finish: Proof Edge: Serrated
This engraving reminds me of the time the family cat took a nap in the clothes dryer . I had a 6am meeting threw a uniform in dryer, when to get coffee heard howling.Their was Fuzzy jumping out of dryer. I am just glad old army dryer don't heat up fast. Fuzzy never got within 10ft of that dryer again .
Another addition for my provincial type set - a little silver 1908 Newfoundland Five Cent (15.49mm; 1.1781g); mintage of 400,000 (that's quite high by Newfoundland standards! only the 1941 Five Cent is higher)
While we are on the topic of NFLD coins... I love the triple die clashes on this beauty. I had sent it a month ago to PCGS, it came back MS-63 Brown (not sure I concur with the brown, instead of red-brown colour), but the grade is good and it is quite a scarce coin in mint state condition.
SP 2 beautiful coins 1873+1938!! I hope the 1938 gets the right grade+Color! Pcgs when there grading at times I wonder if they have the lights on?when a person has a coin US+World coins graded their ether right on with a grade or so far off with a grade, makes 1 wonder why there called number One in Coin grading?
Thanks Jello........they'll get slabbed......though as ICCS charge $100 shipping back to the home country....I imagine these will go to NGC or PCGS.
Picked up a 1907 Canada Half Dollar for my set last week; hard to get a decent photo of this one through all the slab scratches/black marks especially on the reverse, looks like someone tried to remove a sticker with sandpaper.....below all that business, the coin is a nicely toned beauty in my opinion!
