Post your Irish coins

A lot of very nice coins here. I have only encountered a few Irish coins in my collecting days, a few new pence, an older shilling, always a nice surprise. Very simple and classy designs.

The pride of my Irish collection a youghal farthing

 

1691 limerick siege half penny

 

All three are extremely rare proof of record strikings. I don't believe there are any records of how many were minted, but it's very few, and they come up for sale very infrequently.

1963 Penny in PR65 BN.


A 1962 Penny in PR64 BN.


A 1968 Penny in SP66 Red.

 

1723 half penny. About 2 months from being 300 years old!

 

I have a half penny too but it has a crown counterstamped across the portrait. An interesting addition for me as I'm a collector of these old...and new... counterstamped Irish coins.

This one was dug in Northern England some time ago so is a little rough but the detail is still decent. This is the seller's picture but I plan on getting better images when I have a chance.

I also have two 1690 Corke siege pieces overstruck on William Ballard tokens.

I'm not familiar with these coins. I'd appreciate a little info on them if you have a minute.

BTW, does any gun money undertype show through on your Limerick coin?

The youghal farthing was issued as an emergency coin in the catholic refuge in youghal on the south coast of Ireland, they are all invariably square as they were were crudely cut and stamped
