That 1915 was a good buy at 80 bucks even being cleaned - it's a solid VF25/30 IMO. I'm a little skeptical about a homeless guy having one actually being the owner of it but for 80 bucks you did good. Even with the cleaning you'll be able to make a nice profit on that coin to help get funds to buy some others or fill a hole if you're going for the set
The homeless guy is actually a minimalist. He chooses to live in a tent in the woods even though he has $8000 in the bank. He said he found it in a burned down house out in the woods. Known this guy for about 6 years so I don't expect it to be stolen or anything like that.
Bought this from David Lawrence today. It looks like it has potential from the scans, although their scans tend to over expose the surfaces of the coin. I'll find out when it gets here!
Had that in my watch list. By the way I have to talk you out of one of your quarters one of these days.
They had it listed on the bay for 215. I got it for 175 on their site with the make an offer. KJ, I have been talked out of most of them now. I slowly sold them off to fund my half set. I only have about 7 left. Although, I sold 99% of them to same guy. And I talk with him regularly.
I hate looking at scans when trying to make decisions although I'm guessing once you've seen the scans and compared it to the coin in hand you get a good feel for what they look like moving forward.
A BTT A Teletrade buy. I had one raw, but I couldn't let this one go. And a fun little teaser photo of some that went to the SDB.
Someday I will have them professionally imaged for my registry set, but that may be a while off. Just imagine how nice they all are...
sorry had to post this because of this question i just read http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071009084013AAlb8Vn
