You're right - it isn't fair - and I sold the darker toned one to a friend who also bought my duplicate set of Barber Dimes.
I just checked into my hotel in Orlando - and I'll be on the FUN bourse all day Saturday. If I do see one that I think is nice - and is in a TPG holder without problems - I'll grab the seller's business card and send you a PM tomorrow evening. That's the best I can do at the moment. Still hate me ?
I mentioned I sold my duplicate Barber Dime set to a friend [ after it was sent to PCGS for grading.] I cherry picked out the AU 58's and the MS coins for my better certified set. Here's the group image: [ page one ] All missing coins are already in PCGS AU 58 holders.
Elbesaar That is one beauty of a natural set. Your friend is very lucky. And, have a great time at FUN. Also, no I don't still hate 'cha.
Elbesaar I have to say since you joined our Barbers have certainly seemed to have stepped it up Nice coins all.
Glad you liked the raw Dime set. Those Dimes were in the Dansco for about sixteen years before I was coersed in sending them in to get graded. Most of the grades were a disappointment - as I wasn't that adept in grading back then. I looked at a nice lusterous coin with faint rub as an AU 58; the lines I saw, I assumed were circulation lines. Not. Quite a few of those beauties were BB'd at PCGS. I recently dropped them off at NGC to see how they'll fare over there. I left off at 1893: Here's my 1893-O Dime - PCGS AU 58
Was going through my photobucket account and found some pics of a few others I sold last summer: And one I just sold this last month:
I actually took all of those i just posted... thanks In my registry sets I've taken about 1/2 of them. I just use the Heritage or other auction photos if available instead for the rest of them. will have them all professionally done when I get my 1909 set the way I want it. I pretty much finished up my 1908-S IHC grading set so I had Todd (BluCC photos) image all of those at one of the recent Long Beach shows and I'm very happy with the results. If i really work at it I can get a decent photo, but I just have a point and shoot camera so I can only get it good up to a point and it takes too much work! Much easier to pay a few bucks to have it done right and I get a much better end product.
Bought it from Tom Casey in December, 2007. He was instrumental in helping me complete my 2nd certified collection.
was the 1894 s barber dime only in a proof? I have a 1894 dime and I swear it has a s on the back. It is very worn and scratched. I'll try to get pictures in the next few days.
