This medal from Peru came into my possesion a few years ago. It was issued in 1924 to commemorate the battle of Ayacucro. I have seen this medal in gold, but never in silver. Anyone have info on this one ???

The metal you have I think has something to do with Peru war with Spain to become there own nation.that is what learn about a few Commemorative.I spent2 years in Peru when I was in the US Army+ station at the USA UN there. that is what 2 coin shop owner told me too.

For future reference (or Googling), it's A Y A C U C H O. I looked in the August 31, 1971 auction catalog of Almanzar's huge sale of Latin American rarities, tokens, and medals, and did not find this item offered, gold or silver.
