If you enlarge the photo in Post #10, and compare it with my genuine coin in post #18, I think the differences will become readily apparent. By the way, here is another CoinTalk thread from 5 years ago about the same date and type of coin. The "R" in the obverse field apparently stands for "Replica". http://www.cointalk.com/t12548/
Old coin Hello there I have a coin that look like a coin referring to that Spanish king from 1792 It was given to me by my best friend before he left he said that it was given by his grand dad. It hase a shield and there's like a kings crown on the top of the shield. I don't no if it's special but I hope it's wroth something Please reply to this
Just make sure that you only hold a coin by its rim (the edges). Oils in your skin can damage it, so be cautious
It's hard to tell much from your pictures because they are blurry and off-color. The design pictured was used on gold coins from Spain and its colonies of that era, but from what I can tell, your coin isn't gold and it looks fake.
It looks fake to me as well. 8-S is supposed to be 8 escudos and be made of gold. That coin is not gold, nor were there any struck in 1792. The coin really doesn't look like silver either, but it would have been marked 8-R for reales. I would keep it as a novelty.
