Do you even know what that medal is, or you only care how much?

Motti. :) Next to the portrait you can see "A. MOTTI ROMA". And Attilio Silvio Motti designed various Italian coins and medals. On the other side some bilateral agreement is mentioned: "Accordo Bilaterale · CNEN-CUEA · 5 Aprile 1974". Maybe somebody else knows what these organizations are ...

What is a little odd: The Motti I know died in the mid-1930s, I think. So either I am (gasp) wrong ;) or the issuer used an older Motti design.

It's an Italian medal for the 1974 partnership in the nuclear energy field between Italian Commission for Nuclear Energy and CUEA (not sure what that stands for). It's not something you see everyday, so there's no fair market value for that medal. You can sell it for 25 dollars or 250 dollars, depending on how much someone wants it, and your ability to find that person.

Yeah! I saw the markings, but my eyes aren't good enough without an enlargement.

FWIW, it was fairly common in Europe during the 19th & early 20th centuries to use an obverse die for several different medals. Maybe that is what they did in this case.

    Thanks, Christian!
