Which of the 2 coins below do you think is fake (if any?). Remember, they could be both authentic, both be fake, or just one be fake.
I believe the only one that has a centered mintmark is the VAM-6, and it should have die chips on the top left of the "O" in DOLLAR. Neither of these coins appear to have that marker, but I was not able to get a very good enlargement. Both fake. Chris
Not sure about coin 2, but I know coin 1 is fake. The legs of the Rs are wrong. I voted "coin 1 is fake".
Without knowing the diagnostics of the Morgans , I can just go on appearance . Coin 1 looks grainy especially for the amount of wear and the lettering looks terrible . So I think coin 1 is fake . Something about the 2nd one doesn't look right so I'll say they're both fake .
These are fun. Coin 1 - Looks cast. Fake. Coin 2 - The wear doesn't match the patina. Something looks off. Fake.
I'm saying both coin one the detail is off and the surface is grainy and looks wrong. Coin too has flat lifeless detail yet shows little natural wear likely from being cast not struck.
It would help in these guess the fakes , if the pics were straight on and not angled , as the 2nd pic of the 2nd coin is distorted with it's angled shot . Still these are fun .
