Most of the gas stations and party stores near me carry electronic gram scales. Must be a lot of collectors around here!
I use this AWS scale: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=088ZNRS5QNS03Y42PFTY it's pretty cheap, does a great job, and is accurate to 0.01 grams
Don't get his hopes up. If it was struck on a copper core, it would not have that much detail and it would be obvious. Even quarters with one layer missing are weak around the edges. This one is a fully struck plated HSN special.
Ohh, wow. From your previous posts of photos of this coin in a different thread, it looks like the coin was missing it's clad layer. That really shows how scans of coins can really alter their actual appearance. Anyways, yes, it looks lightly gold-plated. -Brian
You can buy 24K gold-plated Connecticut quarters on Ebay ..http://cgi.ebay.com/1999-Connecticut-24Kt-Gold-Plated-State-Quarter-P-/300578605122?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item45fbe18842 ........for $2.49
You are replying to a post that is 5 1/2 years old. I have a gold plated quarter, they aren't worth much, 50 cents or so. Here's the picture, it's just a cool thing, with no great value.
