My guess is Roman Republic denarius of M. Cipius, from what I can make out of the obverse legend. M CIPI M F

I don't know Republic coinage well, so wait for Doug or Bing before you print up the billboards. :)

The Ptolemy bronze is a hard one too. It's 33-34 mm and 33.6 grams with no marks appearing in the field.

As much as I hate plastic, there are at least a couple that are so superlative that you might have to in order to maximize your return. You do not know how much I hated just typing that. :(

Eh, it is what it is. You have to do what maximizes your return and pays your bills. I never begrudge a dealer making as much as he can, I just wish the world didn't require slabbing.

I admit curiosity as to what the slabbers would assign to those coins. For that matter, I wonder if all here would agree which is the best of the bunch. Would all be graded or do you see things on some that should make them untouchable? Of course there are different standards for World coins than for US so I assume these would just get a descriptor at worst.

I do not have trouble with the concept of grading and authentication by experts. I find interesting what they see that upgrades or downgrades coins with varying issues. It is the placing the victim in a coffin that prevents seeing what you need to see to understand the coin that I find troubling.
