I know I don't have 50 posts yet, but don't worry I'm always on here now. I'm sure I'll have that many by then end of the week.

Thank you for the awesome contest!!!

It's really up to the contestant if they want to win a contest or not to play by the rules and post an eligible guess. If you'll look back several posts you will see that I already created a list of guesses made in this thread in the order they were placed. This helps people NOT have to go through the effort of reading every post to make their guess. Some new thread posters will clearly overlook this and throw away a good chance to win the contest. This just means the those who know how to read and play by the rules have better odds of winning than those not willing to do what's required to win.

I've already pointed out that within only the first 1-2 thread pages, four people had already not done their homework and posted guesses withing the .25¢ range of previous guesses. Amazing how people don't read or check these things before posting. Jason (the OP) was kind enough to allow them to edit their posts. I PMed the OP before posting my list of guesses in this thread, suggesting he might regularly post an updated list of guesses, to help prevent people missing the previous posts. This is somewhat common to do in thread contests. It's up to Jason if that's how he want's to run his thread, just like it's up to those people guessing later if they are going to read and figure out where they can place a guess.

Lastly, the time is money thing is entirely different for each person playing and most are not thinking of a waste of time based on what their hourly wages are. This is a hobby and most find enjoyment or fun participating on such forums regarding the hobby. If you are on CT in the first place, is your time not given freely... can silver coins value not increase beyond what you earn (quickly perhaps), or perhaps we can make the argument that winning something at such little cost with a potential beneficial financial factor attached may work to our benefit and it's worth a brief reading of the thread to hazard a guess at the expense of our 'free time'.

There are plenty of threads on CT that we may feel are/are not worth our time reading. However, even some of the longest ones with complex discussions and debates haven't taken me an hour to read. Here again, it depends on the individual and how quickly one reads for instance, how they glean the necessary information and construct the story in their heads to get something out of it for what effort they put into it, reading can educate you and forums can be a source of free education at the expense of your time. One could save money by not making collecting mistakes for having learned it first in a forum. One could make money too by learning about a hobby in a forum then going out and putting that knowledge to work for them.

The value of this stuff is up to the participant. I think most people have enough 'free time' to surf through a contest thread to see whether it's worth a guess or not, and whether they want the prize(s) offered or not in their collection. For those less motivated to read the rules and each post in such a thread to ensure they are eligible before posting, that's just the price they pay hoping to be lucky enough to win. Chances may be heavily against them in that approach. Plenty of people don't read previous posts in contest threads to even notice that a contest has ended and a winner already been announced... they keep posting guesses well after contests end. It always amazes me to see it happen. No list contestant status update regarding previous posts, nor a brief skimming of the thread prevents them from posting to a closed contest.

Thank you Krispy, that about sums it up. I'll try to update the current estimations every morning or so until the 18th. Some of the later contestants might be locked in at a higher estimation. Even if people only have a 25 cent spread, I believe everyone will have a chance here. The price of silver fluctuates so much these days. Please do not edit if you are locked in (in green) and please make corrections sooner than later if you are in the red or have the (x) next to your name. Thank you all for participating. Thank you again Krispy for making the list.

Hey Jason, Since most of us can't see or do math, can you relieve the requirement of within .25 to be just not the same bid as someone else ?

Dave, I understand that some have a harder seeing than others, but I do not think I can remove the .25 spread at this time. Since we do have so many entries, I'm going to lock in people's estimations tomorrow night after returning from work. With this being said, if you are in the red, please make your changes/P.M. me based upon the chart above. Once again, the winner will be determined on Saturday March 18th.
