I think the .25 cent difference poses issues with guesses. I just used it to my own advantage by picking 102.10. The next closest so far seems to be 102.50 and the one below that is currently 101.39. But now that I picked 102.10, no one can pick anything between 102.11 to 102.49 because anything they picked would be within the .25 from my pick and the person who picked 102.50. There is now only a small range between 101.39 and 102.10 as well now, which someone would only be able to pick 101.65 through 101.84 and then that would close a gap larger than the .25 requirement.

Perhaps this .25 difference should just be changed to something like Price is Right, where you just put in your number, whoever is closest without going over wins. It opens it up for more people to participate.

Just a thought.

A lot of us have already posted our guesses based on the rules in the OP as they were laid out when initiated with this thread. Why throw a wrench into this now that nearly 40 participants have joined thus far. As I said earlier in the thread, those who lock in their guesses earlier have the better chance at getting the range they want. Early bird gets the worm. I think this contest is a bit more unique than the common 'price is right' threads that usually come along in CT contests. It gives the contestants a little more wiggle room and strategy to consider. It seems erroneous to start tinkering with the rules at this stage. Just my 2¢

Pick again, I have 102.10 and someone else has 102.50 so you can't pick anything between 102.10 and 102.50 as you'll cross the .25 cent boundary laid out by the rules.

 

True, I'm just saying it's limiting the participants and their picks. Also once these threads get long, one has to spend quite a bit of time to make sure they don't pick a number or amount that is invalid.

I couldn't imagine if this thread gets long enough where it takes a half hour to an hour just to come up with a list of member picks and then to come up with your own pick so it doesn't go against the rules laid out. If it took me an hour to do that, it wouldn't be worth my time, I make what the coins are potentially worth in an hours time.
