The man of war was used on several token issues, I have got 3 or 4 idifferent types in my collection. Could that be the link to the design of the half penny issued from 1937 to the end of £/s/d ?
A merchant vessel, perhaps. I was thinking of a frigate, due to the large number of gunports. But of course, it was not uncommon that gunports would be painted on the ship side only. Indiaman used to cover up as ships of the line by painting on Nelson chequers. I wonder if it is possible to find out what this actual design was ment to be.
