    I guess this poll has to expire. With the New 2014 pound
    here it is new hopefully non counterfeit coin.

    Great Britain has a lot to choose from when it comes Coins&Token;)!

    the shilling and florin coins were the same size as the 5p and 10p and circulated will into the 1990s.

    I am not sure if Great Britain was trying to cut out or consulate coinage to save money.
    I am not an expert .

    last florin minted 1967--last shilling 1966--the country issued a decimal currency in 1971---100 pennies to the pound

    take your pick (no pun intended), i guess british/english is splitting hairs. the top pic is a shilling from 1787, the bottom is a pence from 991-996.
