Notice how both portions have the same amount of wear ? I figure either a) they circulated separately and were miraculously reunited - like the reunion of twins separated at birth b) they miraculously circulated together all those years or c) some sap sawed it in two and the whole auction is another e-bay scam You decide !
I haven't logged into Heritage to see how much it's quarter sold for... Not my expertise by a long shot...
It sold for $4600.00,so I guess he must of missed that auction, and is now offering it for a sweet low price of $500,thats a $4100.00 savings,I think I might jump on it:mouth::crying:
So far to date in the past 6months,I have seen 2 supposed "split" coins both in anacs holders.,one standing liberty that split, right after circulation in 1917,and somehow managed to stay together for almost 100 years, and a indian head penny,at least the indian looked like a true lamination, that someone peeled in half.
Didn't I hear that there have been a few Chinese counterfeits that have slipped through certification and grading at TPGs? If this is true, then...
Did anyone else notice there is a link to this auction in the auction forum. Link Just wondered if anyone else saw that the seller was a member here.:eating:
Can anyone say... foot in mouth? In all seriousness, perhaps the person could fill us in a little about the specimen and the split. That would be nice... As I stated before, not my area of expertise but it would be cool to learn more.
I guess he didnt see this thread started the other day or he probably would not have posted that in the auction forum
Insanity, I tell ya!!!!! lol I wonder how it got circulated so well in two pieces? Some sellers on ebay are really something!
That's great!! Maybe he'll see this link and sell for more. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1114&Lot_No=2676
