See images... I'm probably tricking myself by getting too hopeful (13k cents searched without a significant find of any sort now) but you never know.... It could be just damage, but it really looks like a little worn D rotated pretty heavily. I've drawn an overlay for those who are interested. Anyone have thoughts?
The coin is in pretty bad shape, so I'd think that lightly running a toothpick over it to see if it's raised wouldn't hurt it and would make you sure.
Looks like damage to me as well. Keep looking...you'll find something eventually. 13k is just a drop in the bucket!
One of the reasons I prefer to search Mint bags of same date/mm is that when you come across one variety (clash, doubled die, RPM, etc.) you're bound to find others of the same variety. Errors can be a different story because of their uniqueness. The last time I searched a Lincoln bag of 1980(P), I found 228 "Y" clashes from the same dies. Chris
Any advice on how to get mint bags? My bank (both branches) is already pissed to the point where they're refusing to give me any more boxes of coins without charging fees. I'm not even dropping at them....
Pmd or Rpm? Crack in Planchet . Here a link to help hopefully . http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1971&die_id=1971d1mm001&die_state=mds
Wow, wait Jello, doesn't anyone see the WRPM ( a micro-D mm between the 9 and the D/D )? That would make this a really unique coin Just kidding it is obviously damage ( in my head)
