I got this in change shopping last week.were I am not sure it may have been one I picked out of a Coinstar Machine. but it has no copper in the reeds and sounds like silver when you drop it. but not in great shape to spend $100.00 to have graded
I'm no expert but it looks like it could be real. If you get it graded you'll recover your costs if it's real. Find a jewler with a very precise scale and check it.
Use an exacto knife or a razor blade and very carefully take a very small slice on the edge inside one of the reeds. Sometimes the clad gets smeared over the edge during minting and you can't see any copper. There are known '65,'66 and '67 silver rosies but not from '69 that I'm aware of. If it is silver it would be well worth it to have it authenticated.
:thumb: It sort of has that silver "look"to it too. Now it's off to have it authenticated? Good luck, keep us posted!
Doesn't have to be a left over 64 planchet, could just be a 64 or before dime that got in and restruck. Cool!
if all the signs are there - probably got it out of a coinstar ? looks & sounds silver plus the weight it correct. i would think you would send it in. just a thought it could be the first 69 silver dime ??
Jello: Pretty interesting coin. You might want to have it authenticated. P.S. If you ever want to sell it, you have a possible buyer.
Isn't $100 high for authentication/ grading ? Since the weight is correct I'd send it in. Probably worth thousands if real.
Wow, what a way to end a year if it's really silver! Good luck, Angelo! My fingers are crossed for you!
That would be cool if it is silver. Have you weighed a clad dime recently to make sure your scales arnt off?
