I found this in my coin collection the other day. The front of the medal has a picture raising a cross in the new world, with ships in the background. At the bottom, it says "1492-1910". Underneath the date, on the rim of the medal, it says "WHITEHEAD-HOAG" The obverse displays the massachusetts coat of arms, and says "COLVMBVS DAY MASSACHVSETTS OCTOBER 12, 1910". Directly under the word "libertate" on the coat of arms, the letters "W&H Co" are written very small. The Medal is 3" in diameter, and about 3/8" thick. It weighs about 190g. I believe it is solid silver. I searched the internet a lot, and the closest I could find was this: http://www.timepassagesnostalgia.com/&searchkeywords=columbu+day+1910+medallion&sis=-1&rdir=1 but this isnt the same medal, mine is bigger and has no ribbon. It's a nice medal. I have no idea of value. I'm sure someone will be along with some idea. Have you searched ebay? Welcome to CoinTalk. Hope you enjoy your medal and the forum.
