1906 penny; how much is it worth?

    i have a 1906 penny. very fair condition. how much is it worth?

    No such thing.

    They're cents. I'd price yours at anywhere from 2-5 bucks depending on condition, pics would be necessary to drill it down more accurately.

    Hi Freeslugs and welcome to CT. The US has never minted a penny...we mint cents. The penny is a British denomination and because of our heritage has become a "nickname" for US cents. For many coin collectors, this is somewhat of a "pet peeve" and that is why a couple of the responses here have pointed that out.

    Now, what you have is a 1906 Indian Head Cent (IHC for short). The IHC was minted from 1859-1909 so what you have is one of the last years it was made. 1906 is among the more common dates with over 96 million produced (only 1907 had more). It was made in Philadelphia. My assumption is the coin is well circulated based on your description and I would say it is probably worth $3-$5.
