Is this Penny made out of gold? Is it referred to as a penny or is it called something else? Do alot of people collect these?
    Thanks for any info.

Correctly speaking it's a "cent" (look at the back), not a "penny".
But "penny" is the term commonly in use.

I like it!! Sometimes the uniqueness of the item out ways the value!!

Spot on--those that don't use "cents" make no sense.

What you have there appears to be a normal Indian Head Cent that was plated with gold. The 1895 is a common date and without the plating it would probably be worth a few dollars. With the plating, the coin is considered "damaged" by traditional coin collectors and worth less (but not worthless ;)). The Indian Head Cent is highly collected but plated examples really aren't. I suspect this coin is worth $1 at the most. But, it is interesting and cool...so that alone makes it a fun coin to own.

To me fellow CTers: It's amazing to me that more posts in this thread are about the cents vs. penny discussion and not about the actual question. People call cents "pennys," it's a common nickname in this country. Why can't you guys get over, and stop being snobs. This a great way to chase away new members from our community. Whenever I see this brought up in a thread by a new member...it always really irritates me and it happens way too often.
