If I was any good at speculating futures I wouldn't have to be working the hours that I work now.

gold and silver

do you know if gold-silver ratio is still at 16 : 1 at this time around. silver price will be $28.68 per ounce to gold $459.00/oz. and the american silver eagle uncirculated coin will cost you $35.00 to $40.00 each. and the proof version will be $110.00 at least from the u.s. mint. and the proof commemorative will then be around $140.00 each. the scrap u.s. silver assorted coins will cost you $20.00 to $21.00 per dollar. keep dreaming.

anchor, why do you assume that the price of silver is the one to change if the old ratios were to return? Why wouldn't the price of gold change (too)?

2000 proof set vs 10.00 silver

If silver reaches 9.00 or 10.00 an ounce, I wonder how it will affect the 2000 silver proof set, which has been under valued for the past five years?

My Mood:
Silver hit $8.37 today...

I don't think it's been that high since the late '80's...

What a day! What a way to start the week, Have Metals ever dropped so much in one day?
I had no idea we were going to see such a drop off, this fast.. I thought we were safe for a couple of days.
Courtesy of CNN.com
Industrial and precious metals fell as bullish sentiment faltered. Copper, which hit a record high last week, dropped as low as $7700/7900 a tonne, down 8.8 percent from Friday's close, before paring losses to $8265.

Gold slid as low as $687.60 an ounce, down 3.7 percent from $714.10/715.10 on Friday in New York. The metal reached a 26-year high last week.

"These things are in a speculative bubble and today the speculators have decided the risks are a bit bigger than the returns," said Tony Dolphin, director of economics and strategy at Henderson Global Investors.

"There's a worry about its impact on inflation but I guess there's also a worry about the impact on profit margins and ultimately the impact on consumer spending as well," he said of the jump in energy prices.

I predict silver will hit the $20 mark by the end of the year.

My predictions are rarely correct, so, anyway.

I wont be happy, I’ll be PO’ed. I want to buy not sell.

I’m predicted gold at 500.00 and silver at 10.00 like the rest.

An Interesting Quote

This is interesting and exciting, I hope NumisMedia does not mind me reprinting it.

Metals Marching Forward

The way the metals are acting you would think it is only a matter of time before they really take off. If history is any help at all, this looks like 1979-80 all over again; without the major downturn. Prices tend to run up to record highs and then fall back slightly to establish an overall higher base. Then they run up again. The analysts in the know seem to think we are just getting started. If this is the case, we are in for a long ride. How this influences the coin market will be interesting as well. "

Best Wishes,
John
