| Popular Non-US Countries Silver Coins
Hello everyone,
Which country's silver coins do you find interesting?
How often do you consider a country's silver coins when purchasing silver coins?
Do you have silver coins from Non-US countries? Would you be interested in describing how you obtained the coin.
Thank you again
Have a great day.
-James

I'm pretty much a U.S. coin only sort of collector, but I have made a small exception for U.S.-Philippines coins. They were made while the Philippines were part of the U.S. as a territory, they say United States of America on them and were made by the U.S. Mint... seems close enough to a U.S. coin for me to collect them... plus they are sweet looking: |

Good stuff Illini! I have a nearly complete date and mintmark set of US-Phil coins. Not the highest grade, but I do have two proofs: 1903 1/2 centavo (cleaned, boo!) and 1905 centavo.
As far as non-US silver, the only silver I've bought in the past few months has been from the Sassanian Empire:
Peroz
Sassanian Empire
AR Drachm
‘AS’ mint (Aspahan?)
Crowned bust r.
Fire altar with attendants and ribbon, star and crescent flanking flames; “Peroz” in Pahlavi to left, mint to right.
SNS III Type IIIb/1c; Göbl III/1
Peroz
Sassanian Empire
AR Drachm
Court mint ‘BBA’
Crowned bust r.
Fire altar flanked by two attendants
SNS III Type IIIb/1c; Göbl III/1

Well,
I have been a U.S. collector all of my life but since I started working at a shop I have picked up some world coins.
What do I like? Beauty in a coin at a low price basically. Be it copper, nickel, aluminum or silver if it hits me I just might buy it.
I do like the Balboas and have always thought Mexico puts out some fine looking coins. I have expanded to Bolivia, Peru and Chile.
I have yet to get a nice Thaler but will eventually. I kinda like those.
In other words I see the stuff but don't pursue it. I just pick it up and slowly the collection grows.

I collect primarily Non-U.S. silver coins from 1800-1960s, I do it to be different than all the collectors of U.S. and Bullion |

I got a 1924 Republic of Czechoslavakia silver coin for next to nothing. Its worn but its my favorite world coin. Aside from my CCCP and 1942 Nazi Germany.

I suspect that most of my coins are world coins. This 500 Lire is one of my favorite silver world coins.

I like collecting anything that catches my eye , bought a lot of South American pieces lately but I have been delaying updating my photo archive due to my poor equipment setup. "I will soon get a small upgrade" |

I like any silver coin. My favorite non US silver coin is the Japan 50 Sen. I have silver coins from Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, France, and the Phillipines.

I was sort of wondering why non-US silver coins seemed to be selling for less on Ebay. I think I am going to keep myself wide open for Canadian and Australian silver coins but I am a push over for aesthics ( pretty much anything pretty ) Looked through my plastic baggies of foreign coins today out of boredom and found these:
