    Black Spots On Lincoln Pennies!!

    hey guys,

    i recently found a 1941 lincoln wheatie cent in change. the problem is there is a large black dot covering up much of teh obverse and spots on the reverse. i would REALLY appreciate any advice.

    Hi Chevy,

    The black spots aren't going to come off without doing some serious damage to the coin.
    It's better to just enjoy it as it is.
    If you really don't like it, try to find someone who would appreciate it, and give it to them.
    Most any youngster would think that it's really neat.

    I believe the spots being referred to are what is known as carbon spots. They are very common and can be found on nearly any denomination but they are particularly common on copper coinage.
