Hello, I have been collecting coins for about 2 years now and not a day goes by that I don't wish I would have started about 30 years ago. I absolutely love coin collecting. I collect mostly U.S. Quarters and Dollars. I have all the Sacagawea's and President and am currently looking to put together a nice Susan B collection. I also am working on the Washington quarters from 1932-1947 (have all the others). I cannot wait for the National Parks coins to start coming out. I have tried to learn as much as I can from every source I can find, but am always looking to learn more. I have a very limited budget to spend on coins, for example the only Sacagawea I do not currently own is the 2001 proof. The coin shop in town will sell it to me for $28.00 and that is a bit much for me to spend right now. I am more comfortable in the $5.00 dollar range, but hope to increase that in the near future. I know this really limits what I can spend but to me half the fun is in the collecting for example I have a complete uncirculated set of both the P & D State and territory quarters, yet still look through my change for state quarters to fill up my old Whitman book(I have the uncirculated in a nice Dansko Album) and it is fun to see how long it takes to fill up the book just from pocket change and then I take them out and buy other coins with them(my local coin shop just loves it when I do that hah hah), then start the cycle over again. Well I have probably dragged on too long and most everyone has already gone on to something else by now, but for those of you still reading thank you and I welcome any advice, knowledge, or ideas you may have. I hope to be a regular poster here on cointalk.

Welcome aboard. Try going through some rolls, all of us old-timers probably started out that way (in my case 1962). You can still find some Wheatie Lincolns and the occasional 40% silver (90% if you're real lucky) Kennedy. The price is right!

Thanks. I have been working on circulated kennedies as well and have even found some silver ones at the bank. No luck with quarters as of yet.

Welcome and the great thing about coins is you can do it anyway with any budget you decide - the only thing holding you back is your own imagination!

This probably belogs on the roll searching post, but I have gone through 20 penny rolls and found just one wheatie, but man was it in good shape. I just got done doing nickles which are more exciting. I was finding on the average about one pre 60 nickle every two rolls. I find that roll searching, although it messes up my neck is a lot of fun. It's cheap to do and you will find some keepers. When done just take the culled loser change back to the bank and start the next round. I previously did some quarters just to get some state quarters. I will try halves next.
