My Mood:
dansco vs whitman us mint

I recently bought an album like Dansco albums but it is Whitman brand and it says it certified by the u.s. mint; this had nothing to do with my buying this though. Anyway this album has slots for 'S' proof coins, so I'm going to return for this reason, and was wondering do the Dansco album shave slots for the 'S' proofs or no?

Thank you

Dansco has both, one with the proof coins and one without the proof coins.

If you do a search on Google or Yahoo for coin Albums you will find numerous different manufacturers. Most do have slots for proofs. Whitman, Littleton, Dansco are probably the more discussed and used ones. A suggestion is to go to a coin store or coin show, if possible, and look for those there and look at them to see if those are what you want or need. Some people use those with the slots for proofs and just put a coin in reverse in those slots. Others place a washer in them if they don't want to use them. Some manufacturers make blank pages so you can make your own Albums.
Usually the availability of those albums is based on your location. For example Whitman is really popular in the Mid West, Dansco in the West, Littleton in the East and all usually due to where they are made. Although you may want to use Dansco over the others, they may not be available in your area easily and you will end up paying postage fees to buy them on line.

Hi, forgive me for asking...what's wrong with putting proof coins in albums?
