Found this geocaching

Not in the cache, but in a package lost in the woods a few years ago.

Anyone know the value?

Attaching them isn't showing the larger images.

If its real its $700.00-$900.00 + you should take it to a dealer and let them look at it. Its a 1/2 OZ American Gold Eagle or AGE.

Spot price of gold is at $1096.00 an ounce right now. See here for yourself:
http://www.kitco.com/charts/livegold.html

That coin is what's called a mint state version of a $25 (half ounce) American Gold Eagle. Or AGE for short. It's strictly a bullion coin that the mint puts out annually. Some people collect them for numismatic value though too. None-the-less, at bare minimum it's worth the gold it contains which is half an ounce. So that's $548 right now.

That year was a relatively low mintage year though, so somebody would likely pay a slight premium for it. They only produced 169,029 of those in 1998. You probably could have bought it for around $100 in 1998 too.

It's worth somewhere around $600 as it stands.

NGC lists a MS70 at $748 and they're usually high. It's a nice looking one but it's a long ways from being in a MS70 slab at this point.
