FRETBOARD just remember it is easier to get forgiveness then permission.. Sometimes ya gotta take one on the chin for a good coin then plead for forgiveness. lol lol. My wife stopped nagging me when I showed her what I could turn a few of them over for later on..

Well, I went a bit overboard the last couple of months. I think it was August when I first started this collection, and today I value it at close to $1,500. Between coin shows, Ebay, US Mint and APMEX, I put together a pretty good collection.

I am now settling in to a budget of approximately $200 per month.

My fundage is extremely low...I would wager a bet that of all the members of this forum I am probably the least "well off".

I currently get about 200 a YEAR for coins and currency purchases.

That is going to improve slightly next year (due to...hopefully...better management of money spent and a daily driver that is finally fixed and not going to be taking four digit chunks of money every three months like 2009!) and I plan to dedicate $25 a month to coins. Some months I will redirect coinage funds into another hobby, some months I will redirect some of the other hobbies' fundage into coins. (Like the months I go to a coin show)

I personally can't imagine ever spending into the three digits for a single coin, and as such my collection will always be low-end, and will never include gold, unless I can dig it up out of the ground...which I am not physically able to do...so...no gold!

No monthly source of income, only what I can get by flipping coins, really.
In a period of five months I might spend $500, in a period of 5 months I might spend $100...Just depends on the month, and what holidays are coming up, so I know how much money I'll be getting from the family...

I set an annual budget for coins and then chart how I am doing on a monthly basis against my budget. Last time I checked the budget, the next time I am allowed to purchase a coin is sometime in 2018.

Budgets are easy, if its in my pocket its fair game at the coin show. I really have no budget, I find something that I like and have the cash, I buy it. Doesnt matter what it is, coins, guns, motorcycles or crazy trips.

As for Doug.. He is certainly not Jimmie Carter or Newt G. I met Doug this summer on one of my crazy trips, he is just a nice average Joe with a funny hat, and a 4 wheeler with a hemi in it. ( Ya Doug has a wild side ) BTW Doug, it was a nice visit, I enjoyed it. Gang, he is so far off the beaten path they have to pipe in sunlight!

I spend as much as I can on coins... Im the kinda guy who cant keep any money to save his life, so I either spend it on stupid things that go down in value (like cars, watches, guns, motorcycles, etc) or generally I try to stick it all into coins. This keeps me happy because im buying stuff, and keeps my bank account happy because if I need this money at any point its easy to go snag my coins from the bank and sell em. Plus I like hording stuff lol
