Shipping Coins - question

What is the best way to ship coins?

I am soon going to be selling off (bit by bit) my father-in-law's collection. His widow wants $$$$ to spend. How do I package, say, single coins or groups of maybe 6 coins?

Well, I haven't done it much, but when I have shipped out single coins or small groups, I put the coin in a holder, fix the holder to something so it doesn't slide around too much, and then package the coin in a bubble wrap envelope. Of course, it depends on the value of the coin in some respects - you don't want to pay two bucks to ship a three dollar coin, unless the buyer is willing to pay those fees. But I think this method allows for a low level of shipping damage possibility.

Shipping

What rick said is good
If the collection is large there are coin shippers- corogated cardboard that coins can be placed in before shipping other wise use a bubble envelope with the coins secured or wrapped in somthing to prevent it from slipping

DO NOT mark "coins" on the outside of the envelope.

This is an invitation that says steal me!

If you have to label the envelope for example shipping outside of the country or for insurance purposes the best way is to mark it
Numismatic materials. or medals or metallurgical product.

You want to protect yourself and your buyer from outsiders knowing that either of you have "coins" on your premises.

I'm even considering renting a PO box to receive my coin magazines.

To avoid attention my foreign coin magazine is sent to me via one on my favorite dealers.
He always puts it in a plain brown padded envelope.

It cost me just a few more dollars a year to do it this way rather than a normal subscription,

but it also keeps me in contact with what is now a friend not just a dealer.

Well even if they are not yours you still have the responsibility (SP?) to get the coins to the buyers just as they were when you sent them.

I would be careful and use a bubble wrap envelope----if you are mailing lots of coin to the same place place them in a bubble wrap envelope and then in a Flat Rate $3.85 envelop you can get at the post office.
