poor centering vs error

I saw a listing earlier today on ebay that featured a poorly centered note as an error and clearly stated the off centering was the error, no other reason. Now I know, if you believe everything on ebay I'll take a picture of the local bridge and list it for sale. But I am inexperienced enough to need to ask some of the more knowledgable members here for some input on the matter. My thoughts are poorly centered notes are a downgrade not considered an error or anything "special". It made me think of 5 examples that I have although crisp and probably around AU to uncirculated, they are poorly centered notes and I have 5 consecutive $1 silver cert 1935F stars all with the same poor centering. I had assumed these to be of lower value and bid accordingly and just happened to buy these notes about 1 1/2 months ago for approx $12 each including shipping. Please review the pic and if it helps I can post all 5 to show the consistent poor centering.
I am happy with the notes as they are stars and consecutive #'s but am curios about poor centering and how it affects grade.
