Is this an error?

Hi,

I was just looking through some pennies and found this 1974 D. I noticed right away there seemed to be something wrong with his hair and compared it with others to make sure.

I think either some hair is missing or he's got an errant curl where it shouldn't be.

And if it is an error, is it worth anything?

Thanks everyone.

I'll try to get better pictures of it so it's easier to see.
It definitely looks different than all the other pennies I have.

Are you talking about the little extra curl below the "WE" or the whole area circled in red? If it is the first, I think it is a die gouge. If the latter, maybe some die deterioration on the hair.

I'll add that it could also be a die crack (or as suggested a gouge) which might have the look of an extra curl of hair. And I agree completely that it is in almost all likelihood just die wear that has reduced some of the other details in the hair.

I can't see this coin having any additional premium.
