2009 coins & ready to welcome in the new year and all the new coins that will be minted in 2010. I guess I'am getting a little tired of the year of Lincoln coins & the lack of other coins that were passed over this year , frankly I guess I'am bored & looking forward to a New Year & all the surprises the U. S. Mint will throw our way , how about you folks

2009 is a weird year. I'm still looking to fill holes in my books for almost every denomination. I may have to resort to buying them at the coin show next weekend. The mint should also have made the 2009W ASE. What were they thinking when they pulled production of that coin for the year? It is one of my favorites.

I agree with Phil here and the Chief backed it up with his comment. This year will be remembered for not producing the ASE and AGE proofs. I believe that in the long run with that big hole in so many coin collections this will overshadow any Lincoln influence for 2009. With this being said youahve to wonder what's in store in 2010 for this coin?

I don't collect modern coins.
Well, that's not quite true. But when I get the last of the territory coins (PD only) then it will be.
Some of the 2009 Lincolns have gone through my hands in change but I didn't even bother to save them.
And I'll pick out Parks quarters from change as I see them in circulation.

But I save my money for the more classic items.
The latest one I'm chomping at the bit to get is a 1795 half cent. The dealer sent it in for slabbing. With luck I should pick it up at the Baltimore Whitman show in two weeks.
Plus I have some nice IHCs waiting for me. I'll get them this coming weekend at a local show.

About like me - I put some of 2009 pennies in my harris albums and need a few more quarters. That will be about it for the more modern stuff. Do it mainly to keep me entertained while I look for next purchase. And I can't wait to see your IHC's.

I too have a hard time getting excited about any of the new computer generated coinage designs. I have a roll of 2009-D lincolns on my desk that were a free gift with some silver that I bought...and I'll probably take them to the bank. Both ends show the obverse, so I don't know which design they are...but don't really care either. They're probably all black spotted inside anyway.

That having been said....I can see, just from the first page of this forum...where one could develop Lincoln Chronicles burnout.

With a focus on ones and twos, I have enjoyed the year of the Lincoln cent. It's been 50 years since there was such a major design change to the cent, so it doesn't happen that often.

I think the Lincoln Chronicles was a major collectable and that the Mint did an outstanding job on the packaging. I'm just glad they didn't charge more for it.

I don't know if all these are scheduled for 2010 release but this month's Coinage listed the following bills before Congress at this time with small chance of approval. (Hope you have some time.)

- H.R.255: coins commemorating the 50th anniversary of NASA

- H.R.621: coins commemorating the 100th year of Girl Scouts

- H.R.1195: coins commemorating Mark Twain

- H.R.2001: coins commemorating the battlefields of the Revolutionary War and War of 1812

- H.R.2097: coins commemorating the bicentennial of the writing of the Star Spangled Banner

- H.R.2123: (for 2011) coins in recognition of and to commemorate the 1863 invasion of Pennsylvania, the Battle of Gettysburg, and President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address (Thought we just covered that one?)

- H.R.2318 : coins commemorating Robert M. La Follette Sr.'s contribution to the Progressive movement

- H.R.2421: coins commemorating 100th Mother's Day

- H.R.2799: coins commemorating the 225th anniversary of the establishment of the nation's first law enforcement agency, the U.S. Marshals Service


I'd say we haven't begun to be burned out yet if half of these pass!

Next year I will likely buy a 2010 PF ASE if they make them and I'll buy the first new issue of the Lincoln cent in high grade. That's all that I know of at this time that I will be interested in. I'm burnt out on quarters.

I too was very happy with the Lincoln Chronicles , I wonder why the mint dosn't put more thought into other coins like they did the Lincoln Chronicles set

I'm with the sick and tired of this all with the Lincoln Cents stuff. At coin shows they are selling for $1 each already. And the prices of rolls of them is ridiculous. I think I'll stop collecting those things due to all this hype about them.

I don't think it's possible to get burned out on something that hasn't been seen yet!

For the 2009 Coinage, I've recieved exactly 4 cents, (1 log, 3 sitting) 0 nickels, 0 dimes, 9 Quarters, 0 half dollars and 0 dollars in change. Via friends I was able to get the P mint Dollars and all the cents, P and D. I don't have any of the nickels, dimes or Denver mint anything besides the cents!

If I didn't have the Proof set I'd be inclined to believe that I imagined all these coins even existing!

Hex Bill 2008 are not going to the southeast. I only found 2-2008-P Dimes 1-nickle 2008-D no cents. but did get a 2009-P&D 1 roll each of DC quarters 1- roll 2009-P log cabin and 1 log cabin in change

I still check a few banks weekly but the teller I know just throw there hand up and say no 2009 anything
