My Mood: | LN-6 & The US MINT Shipping
Ok here's a good one....and I been buying from the mint for god only knows how many years. OK here's the deal I got conformation and shipping conformation with tracking...Thinking it was going shipped by USPS I looked at the tracking. No it was shipped Fedex....with the tracking saying it was shipped on 10/23 and to be delivered on 10/28 ...well it was to the USPS and now it tells me it will be another 2 days before it's delivered. Anyone else have this issue? everyother item I have purchased from the mint came USPS with no problems.

As far as delivery goes I think they're actually delivering these as fast as they can. I guess they go out Fed-Ex and switch hands in WI or some BFE place and then USPS takes them to the address. Sorry again Paddy but you will be amazed when you see this set!. I have a penny set from the 2009 proof set but they do not look as good as these. This set is magnificent!! |

LOL I sold mine last Sunday on e bay....thus I want to complete the sale with the buyer. I do like the set but I only collect a few Comm. as they are not my interest and I made a good profit from the mint purchase.

I had two sets sent out on10/23 they sent me tracking numbers but I check it everyday and USPS has yet to post tracking information on them. I won't be surprised if they show up this weekend and tracking info gets posted after delivery.

So far every order I have placed with the US Mint this year has started out via FEDEX and then crossed over to USPS. For some reason, they are being shipped to Martinsburg WV via FEDEX (1 hour drive from where I live) transferring them over to USPS, and then taking one to two days to get from Martinsburg, WV to my local Post Office. This has occurred with both my Uncirculated sets, now with my Lincoln Chronicles set.
The FEDEX tracking has had them sitting in Martinsburg WV since the 25th, then with a notification of transfer to USPS. Departing Martinsburg at 4am on the 28th.
Called my local Post Office this morning and was informed that they had arrived there at 2am this morning and is in the mail truck/vehicle to be delivered today.

You should find it there, and will tell you when they transferr the package into the USPS system. You wll not be able to get any tracking info through the USPS system, until after they are transfered over and sometimes not even then. You may have to actually call your local Post Office to find out when they expect delevery from FEDEX.
Dave
Edit: They are referring to this service as FEDEX smartpost

Yes I have the same problem. My tracking said it was to be here today and now it say's Saturday. I did not know it takes 3 days to get from Orlando Fl to Palm Beach Fl. But what the difference instead of waiting 9 days I will wait 11 days.

Paddy, this is a commonly used shipping method by businesses these days to save money on shipping. They'll have an account with UPS or FedEx and it gets sent out originally with one of them. Then, at whatever point is the most convenient for the carrier, they dump the package off at a USPS facility and USPS delivers it the rest of the way. Most of the time though, they will drop selected packages off at the post office in your home town. So they don't have to make the extra deliveries all over town. It saves them a little in costs I suppose.
But I've never seen them do it this way. Mine was shipped to Indianapolis. From there it went down to Earth City, MO (never heard of it or had anything routed through there before). There, it was switched over to USPS. My ship date was the 23rd and I'm not scheduled to receive mine until the 31st. Delivery date has been pushed back twice.

My third one has been shipped. I'm happy. I can sell two of them and keep. It will be like getting one for free.
