LOL! Good point. Some people are hoping they can just get back to the basics!

I think the reverse proof is cool. I don't own one yet but I suspect I will sooner or later. I'd like to see them again for the 30th anniversary set. That'll be a big year if they don't permanently discontinue them now.

I think they will, foreign mints have done them...and it seemed the reverse proofs issued in 2006 were pretty popular. I'd imagine a release of one every now and again.

I too have worried over the fact that the US Mint might discontinue the American Silver Eagle. If this be the case, does anyone have any thoughts as to what might replace it?

Perhaps the Obama Dollar!

I've taken CT member SirCharlie's advice and written to both of my state Senators regarding the issue of the loss of the 2009 ASE & AGE Proof collectors coins in hopes they will voice my sentiment to the appropriate agencies in Washington DC. I recommend others to follow suit with your elected officials if you feel so compelled to have your voice heard and to defend these coin programs. Many can be readily contacted via web forms available at senate.gov or house.gov and of course there's also the White House / President and the Director of the US Mint
