Received my First PCGS DOILY!!

I just received a gorgeous 1864 Bronze Indian cent in a very rare PCGS MS65 RB old Doily Holder. These holders were only used for a very short time in December 1989. They are called "Doily" holders because the little circular patterns that appear on the label makes it look like a bunch of little doilies.

OK, confession time - in this case, I sort of did buy the holder instead of the coin - meaning, that even though the coin is spectacular, I paid more because of the holder.

By the way, I took these photos myself with my handy dandy lil ol Dino-Lite camera - nothing like Todd's photos of course, but not bad for an amateur! Any way, just wanted to share this really neat coin/holder.

Pretty cool! The coin looks pretty nice too. I almost bought a Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter in one of those holders at a local show not too long ago, but the dealer just wanted way way too much. Congrats!!!

I would say crack it out for a resubmit.. But that means having the slab taken off... Not worth it..

I have never seen one of those holders. Nice IH to go inside it.

BTW, Nothing wrong with the pictures either. Just play with your white balance and lighting and then you can take Todd's job.

Hello Doily, Well hello Doily.

It's so nice nice to have you back where you belong!

Sorry, I was overcome with a bit of musical inspiration.

The cent is beautiful. I've never seen that flavor of PCGS holder before. So you got a double good find. Double your pleasure....double your fun...

Ok so the singing thing got to me too.

I see you boys were in the singing mood last evening and this morning!

Thanks for the link to the PCGS slab progression, Pennywise. Here's another one from the PCGS forum - some of the information contradicts a tiny bit, but it is very interesting to see the progression of slabs over the years.

RLM, sorry, my little Dino-Lite doesn't have allow for any adjustments other than focus - it's a simple "point and click" little thing, but I can play with the secondary lighting I use a bit. Thanks for the tip, but I don't think Todd has anything to worry about!
