PL & DMPL grading question

I was looking at the price guide on PCGS price guide and they list PL and DMPL on every coin.

http://www.pcgs.com/prices/PriceGuid...=Morgan+Dollar

What is that? thanks.

PL is proof like.
DMPL is deep mirror proof like.

One you can read news print at 4" and the other you can read news print at 8". The entire field on both sides of the coin must meet the criteria to be either PL or DMPL.

Hope this helps.

These are surface designations that describe a coin with mirror-like surfaces.

PL = Prooflike (2-4 inches clear reflectivity)
DMPL = Deep Mirror ProofLike (6+ inches clear reflectivity)

It designates the color of the cent.

br is brown.
rb is red-brown.
rd is red.

Bought this for fun. How does the first coin look?

I thought it was unique since it was a original roll from the Cleveland bank.

Here is a DMPL example for you. It is very hard to photograph the mirrors but you can tell how black they are.

Deep Mirror Proof-Like. I posted an article with photos of Morgan Dollars having DMPL, P-L, DM, and other surfaces on them some time ago. It's in the Coin Talk Archives. Do a search to read the post
