First Post

Hi all, I have been following this forum for some time now and am impressed with the level of knowledge and passion for coins I have seen here. So, thank you all for contributing to this great group.

I have been collecting coins since ~1991 when I was in elementary school. My great grandfather gave me his collection before he died in the early 90s, which had a great collection of nearly all early Lincoln cents, many of which were RD BU, as well as some flying eagles, IHP and buffalo nickels. The highlight of the collection was a 1909 S in F-12 condition. I added to this collection throughout my childhood, and branched out into moderns, both foreign and domestic, that I came across in my change, from local banks and my travels. I have also been collecting modern mint sets since 2004, mostly Silver Proof Sets, as well as select commemoratives, particularly 2008's bald eagle series. I also couldn't resist the beautiful UHR

Unfortunately, most of this collection was located at my parent's house and was stolen sometime last fall, although fortunately my modern US Mint collection was here with my in NYC.

Reading the roll searching forum recently game me motivation to begin searching rolls to try to put my collection back together (although I will clearly need to lay out some $$ for some of the rarer coins), and as of this writing I have just finished searching my first bank box of cents.

Thank you for the inspiration to begin to put my collection back together, and I look forward to learning more from this community as well as sharing some of my passion with you as well. Happy collecting!

Welcome to Coin Talk. Always saddened to read about anyone's coins being stolen. I am glad you are still in the hobby and with us here.

Welcome to CT Belisarius! There are a few NY'ers and such neighbors here too. I'm in Brooklyn. I just picked up a UHR a couple weeks ago myself, great looking modern piece like no other, IMO. Sorry to hear about your loss, especially since it was passed down by family. See ya on the threads.
