Very small gold coin???

How about this tiny gold coin. There doesn't seem to be any numbers, or writing of any kind on the coin. What is it, and where is it from?? I have a picture of it next to a Roosevelt Dime, for size reference. I can weigh and measure it, if needed. Thanks.

That is pretty small indeed. I know India has issued some very small gold coins but I can't say if that is one of these or not. I have never seen any of them, just read about them. Might be an avenue to investigate though...

Could be wrong, but I don't think it's a coin at all. Given the design it appears to be some sort of fanatsy Mexico gold peso or 2.5 peso. No idea on the gold content, if it is gold at all.

Yeah, it technically would be considered a token or medal. Mexicans have produced numerous different little gold "pesos" in "private mints", as souvenirs for tourists. This is not a very common design but is basically the same thing as the little maximilian gold pieces that are flooded on eBay. Some of them are 22k gold and others are just plated scrap metal. Definitely cool to add to your collection as long as you didn't have to pay a whole lot.

It looks Mexican indeed: on one side the Aztec calendar is depicted, on the other side the effigy of Cuauthemoc, the last Aztec ruler.
I suppose this is a fantasy coin, made for use in jewelry.
