whitman encyclopedia of us paper money

hey I was planning on getting some books on currency just wondering if the Whitman encyclopedia was good. Is the standard catalog of paper money better than this? thanks in advance

I haven't read the Whitman book, so I won't comment.
The two I use most and many consider the foundation books are:
"Paper Money of the United States. A complete guide with valuations", Arthur and Ira Friedberg. 16th Edition (there may be a 17th by now) Coin and Currency Institute.

"The Standard Guide to Small Size U.S. Paper Money. 1928 to date" John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist. 8th Edition. Krause Publications.

There are scads more for virtually every interest.
    Happy hunting

(I actually just took a look at the Whitman Book and it's very good. It's a bit more compact and portable than the Friedberg book, so for that reason alone, you may find it more handy to keep close to hand.)

IDK about that book, but like Comprehensive Catalog to US Paper Money alot. Also, there is a new version of a small size paper money book that came out/ is coming out this month, but I can't remember what it is called. Anyone know?

These are the 3 books i use almost exclusively for US notes. I have never seen the Whitman book, so cannot comment. If you do get the book, please let us know what you think Click here to enlarge
