Talking Hello

Good evening every one. Just joined 10 min ago. I started collecting way back in the 70's. I used to throw papers and this sweet old lady had several of the old water cooler jugs full of old Lincoln penny's. She would let me sit and pick through them to pay for her bill each month. The newest coin I say was a 1958. Needless to say I filled many of a penny book back in the day. What I would give to have those books now. My mother sold them when I went in the service back in 1975. Any way I have still been collecting the proof sets I have all the sets from 1955 to present day clad and silver for everything after 64 (if silver was issued). I just started a $20 gold Saint collection. I have a whopping two 1908 no motto's (one was supposed to be with motto but when it arrived it was with out.) and a new Ultra High Relief issued on the 5th of Oct.. I don't expect to get the complete set any time in this life time unless I hit the mega millions . I have a quick question. All of my proof sets are in the original mint packaging. Should I send them in to be graded and slabbed like my Saints or are they worth more in their original packaging? Hope to here from every body soon.

Thanks
Robert

Welcome to the forum Robert , are you sure we didn't have the same mother lol , just kidding , I'am no expert but I leave my old proof sets alone as long as they are still packaged well , which mine are. There are some great folks here who will all have good opinions & again welcome to CT ; )

Hey Thoth and welcome to the forum. I'm a firm believer in leaving everything in OGP (original government packaging). I've got sets hailing back to '55 and they still look great. MHO and others may differ.....
