Palmer National Bank, Danville, IL

Hello all ~

I am new to your site. I am the ggg-granddaughter of the founder of Palmer National Bank (#4731) of Danville, Illinois. I always keep my eye open for those notes. The bank once had the name of Palmer-American National Bank. I am always interested in finding those national notes. If anyone knows of any of those notes for sale, please contact me. I would like to pass them down to my grandchildren.

Sincerely,
mrs. peapod

Mrs. Peapod...

For your first post all I can say is what a request...seems that this is a pretty rare bank with "2nd Titile" ( Palmer-American NB) issued 11/28/31

First Title notes that are outstanding is ~ 21 Large Size and 39 Small size.
If you were to find any of these my guess is that they would not be cheap...
So if you do not mind me asking, if you are the ggg-grandaughter, what got you interested and how do you recall the Charter # of this Bank, let alone the recall of the 2nd Title of the charter...sounds like you know more than what you are letting on.....

hi there ricky b ~ about three years ago, when i was searching danville, illinois on ebay, the town my ggg-grandfather helped found, i saw a palmer note for sale. until then, i didn't know the bank issued notes or that they existed though of course i knew about my grampa's bank as my whole family has handed down genealogical information. so, since then, when i'm able, i purchase notes though they are pricey. i started asking questions of dealers, etc. they are the only notes i'm interested in. i have no other notes or coins that i collect, just my ggg-grandfather's! i hope that helps! sincerely,
mrs. peapod

Check Teletrade.com, it's a coin auction site. They sometimes have currency, like today's auction. Look for Currency: National Banknotes and with luck your bank will be up for bid. And there is always Ebay.

My recommendations on finding a specific note from a specific city:

Lowell Horwedel - horwedelscurrency.com

Lyn Knight Auctions - lynknight.com

Heritage Auctions - ha.com

I have bought USA and foreign notes from all of them, you can do want lists also so that they contact you if something comes in. In particular the first one listed, Lowell Horwedel found a National Bank note for me from a small town in Missouri. Since then I got a small sized national from there.

PS - I checked the archives on Heritage and they have had sixteen sales of National notes from Palmer-American National Bank, 4731 since 2001, with prices ranging from $138 on up to over $2K and have even large denomination large sized nationals which are impossible to find usually.

hi there all i know about banknotes, now, is that they *do* exist, something of the history of them, that my ggg-grandfather's bank issued them, and that i want to hand them down to my grandchildren. i'm no numismatist in any real sense. i went to one show and was *amazed* by everything but i'm a retired school teacher. even if i *were* interested in something more exotic, i could never afford it. so, i've just stuck to looking for my grandfather's bank - and that's it. please do keep me in mind if you ever find one. sincerely, mrs.peapod
