I was looking through my piggy bank today and found a silver penny from 1991. i was wondering if someone could let me know why this was. It could be missing the plating layer, coated in mercury or some other metal or on the wrong planchet. Probably by now thousands have been returned to circulation after the novelty wears off with the students. Maybe shine a flashlight from the side (to reduce glare) and take a pic through your maginifier.
