The US Mint really sucks for doing this. Now, there'll be a run on any 2009 ASE because so many were waiting for the "W"s to show up. They're already over $20 in the magazine ads.

I have 100 2009 silver eagles in mint tubes are you suggesting it might be smart to hang on to these as they might have some collector value in the future?. If so how could non collector bullion coins have such a added value? after all, they minted many hundreds of thousands of these they cant be very rare.

Thumbs down

The US Mint has made a grave error not having set aside enough of the silver planchets for proof American silver Eagles. I believe even setting aside just 500,000 of the blanks would have been sufficient to satisfy the collector market and allow for upside value on the proof silver coin alone. I just do not buy the line about insufficient blanks available when somewhere in the realm of a whopping 20 million bullion strikes were minted this year.

This was the last coin I had been waiting for in order to place my combined order for the year for all my proof and uncirculated sets and first spouse medals.

I was hoping to find out about this also. So far my subscriptions for the 2009 ASEs (I had two separate ASE subscriptions under the same account) have not been removed. I assume the subscription stays on your account until you cancel it and the next years products will be sent to you under your terms of subscription. so probably no need to cancel.

As per the e-mail that I received from the mint on Oct. 6th....

You do not need to re-subscribe to the 2010 American Eagle Silver Proof
and Uncirculated Coin Programs. Prices may change during the course of
your subscription. Should the price change for the 2010 coins, the new
prices will be listed on your 30-day pre-fulfillment notification.
Please review your notification carefully.

I don't think the 2009 silver eagle will be worth more than spot plus a small premium once everyone comes to their senses and figures out just how many are out there. They have even been going higher than previous years with lower mintage. Can anyone tell me why demand for 2009 is so great (as opposed to other years mintage that are available now in the market)? Keep them for bullion or change them for previous years, but don't bother saving them for collector value. Just my opinion.
