Asking for your opinion about the "Goodbye" threads.

We haven't had one for a while, thankfully, so I thought now would be a good time to ask so nobody specific thinks I'm picking on them. What do you think of the "Goodbye" threads, and how would you like the moderators to act upon them?

From time to time, one of the members here will for whatever reason, decide it's time for them to move on. Instead of going quietly, they'll make a big deal about it and post a "Goodbye" thread. The big irony here is that in most of the cases, the person will be back in one form or another within a few days or weeks at most. I can't think of a single case when someone's made their big 'Goodbye' thread, and then has never visited again. Most come back and join back in the discussion, the rest visit regularly to read.

So, I don't really see the point in the goodbye threads, since they're really not leaving anyway. Personally, I think they're being drama queens, but I haven't removed those threads because I think the forum is more about the members than about me. In other words, I try not to let my personal feelings dictate how to run the forum, and will defer to the logic of others when I think I'm making a decision based in emotion.

So, I'm going to start a little poll here, and ask for anyone to put in their two cents (mint red early Lincolns, if you please).
