I got home and thought that it was cleaned but when I took a closer look, it appeared to be Proof-Proof Like. The coin looked bright from the start but the field has a mirror like reflection. My coin is a G-4/VG-8. Is it possible to indentify a proof coin in such a low grade. Any help would be appreciated. Pics to follow.   08-24-2009, 11:07 AM   #2 (permalink) Mark Feld Rare coin dealer     Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: San Diego Posts: 1,668 Many Proof coins can be lightly circulated (for example to AU or XF condition) and still recognizable as Proofs. However, if one has been circulated/worn to the point where it is anywhere near the condition you stated, there is no way it would have any original mirror surfaces remaining. The second picture best shows the coin in hand. Except that the field of the coin is mirror like. When I held my redbook over the coin, the field of the coin faintly showed a mirror image of the red book. This effect does not occur on any other of my Barbers. The coin does not look mirror-like/prooflike in the images, and thankfully, it doesn't look polished.
