    199 Penny

COuld this possibly be a error or has the last # been rubbed off somehow, at first i thought it was an error, to the naked untrained eye, but under the scanner i think i see a very, very faded 1. I'm expecting that it has just somehow been rubbed off.

maybe the die was full of grease or something, and it was a weak strike.

I can barely see a 1 or 7, The coin from my eye, the #s are all clearly defined and visible except the last one, its like it wasn't even struck.

It is a grease-filled die as indicated. It happens when they leave grease in the die after wiping it down so the coins don't stick. When residual grease is left in the die, it appears as blank spots over the devices on the coin. Does not increase value unless you have large amounts of the devices not present. Say like the majority of the date or Most of the motto.

I found one a few years back with the same date, 199. I have an image with other great filled die examples.

I wish! I collect Photos for educational purposes and post them often. I figure if I can help with images at the right time, it will help extend the hobby for others to enjoy.
