| Worth it to get 2009 Bronze Lincolns or silver quarters graded?
It looks like my 2009 silver proof sets shipped today. Do you think it's worth it to get the cents and/or silver quarters graded?

If you want them buy them on eBay already graded.
You can get them for a lot less than the grading fee!!
Like the Lincoln set is selling for about $30 (in PF69UC) and the grading fee would be $50 plus the cost of shipping both ways.

Well, that's the thing - I already have them. I guess the gamble is if they come back pr70 or not, which is totally not likely.

To tell the truth it is hard to get 70's. I bought 10 of the 2009 Clad proof set and I looked at the Jefferson's, Roosevelt's, Kennedy's and Sacagawea's and out the 40 coins I pulled out 21 for flaws and sent the other 19 to NGC. I ended up with 14 70's. Unless you know what to look for I wouldn't waste your money trying to get the 70's. The Roosevelt's and Jefferson's in PF70UC sell for less than the grading cost. The Lincolns are always harder to get in PF70UC and that is the reason they sell for over $50 a coin.
If you want the silver quarters in PF70UC it is still almost cheaper to buy them already graded. Here is a break down of the math.
Silver Quarter Mint Price..........$24.95 (Plus the shipping from the Mint)
Grading Fee X 6 Coins.............$75.00
Shipping to NGC......................$5.00
Shipping from NGC..................$19.30
Grand Total..........................$124.25
There are sets that sell on eBay for less than $120.00 for the set.

Hi Greenie, Zeke here. You mentioned mint holders. How well do the mint plastic holders used in the clad, silver sets, etc., preserve the coins? Is it okay to keep them in there for three to ten years at least if they are in vacuum in sealed polyethylene bags? Thanks.

Thanks. | Zeke, I keep my collection in a cool dry place and have found that all of my sets have held up very well over the years. I like OGP and have not had any reason to remove any of my coins from their original holders.

Thanks, that's good news. Obviously the plastic is not PVC.
