Dollar Value Vs Percieved/True value

I have been thinking about what coins people are buying and the reasons they are buying them.
Many people think that having a High Dollar Coin will make a collection that is great. I think you should buy what you like and don't get caught up in the latest and greatest coin fad, be it graded coins or super rare specimens.

IMHO the best collection is one that you take the time to really find the coins you enjoy.

You might have a $500 coin and it really means nothing if you don't really like it. On the other hand the coin that is worth much much less may be the gem of a collection.

So buy what you enjoy and you will love your collection for years to come.

I only buy what I want. Some are high dollar coins but this is because I wanted them and most likely need them from my set. I got rid of a lot of coins because I no longer wanted them and decided to sell them instead of holding on to them.

Yes good advice indeed.
It is just like giving into peer pressure, don't do it. Do what you feel is right, and makes you happy.

For that reason, it's wise to sell coins from time to time as a sanity check.
