One more acetone and PVC thread.

This is something I posted on a different board and thought I would share it here. I know many here don't care for the use of acetone but it can be helpful on some coins. The sad part is what you might find under the PVC.

This is not something the young folks should be messing with.
There are safe ways to use acetone but it can hurt you if not done correctly.

Before pics.

These are after one acetone bath and after two baths. No rubbing.

This is after several acetone baths. No rubbing. Not real pretty.
Lots of marks under the PVC.

It would be interesting to see the grade of this coin by NGC after the cleaning. Although it has a couple of small nicks, it almost seems to be MS quality to me. If I didn't know that it had been cleaned, I might have gone as high as MS-60.

Well here is some before and after pictures.

The first set is coins that have been in PVC flips for almost a year (a coin dealer lied to me and said they were a new Safe-T-Flips)
Before

After, Just 1 bath in acetone.

I bought this coin on eBay and the seller shipped it in a PVC flip.
Before

After, Just 1 bath in acetone.

Just a thought for you schatzy. Build a small set of shot glasses of different sizes.
Pick the size needed for each coin that will keep the coins surface from touching the glass. It might be tough to find one small enough for something as small as a dime.
Find an old glass flashlight lens to use as a cover. This glass cover can also be used to drain off the acetone without the worry of the coin falling out of the shot glass.
If you are careful the acetone will not contact your skin. If you do get some on you just wash your hands. It's a great system once you get the hang of it.
