1834 Classic Head Half Eagle Variety Set

Just for fun I thought I would post what I have.

An almost complete 1834 Die Variety Set, I am missing 2 of the 9 known. The last two are fairly common, I have been focusing on the much more difficult 1835 Varieties.

If anyone has the last two I can post them in this post to complete the reference set.

As time allows I will update this post with some of the diagnostics for each variety; for now I'll test you guys to see if you can come up with what makes each one different.

What a beautiful collection! I'm impressed. How long did it take you to put it together?

Just from a quick glance, I noticed the date placement is different on several and the placement of "5 D." is also different on others. I imagine the rest of the legends also have placement differences.

Nice set!

Really nice set man.

The second to last one looks like it has a berry between the leaves. I remember reading something about that a while back. And it may just be me but the arrows look small on the last one.

Edit: The curl in front of the ear looks thinner on the first one than the rest.

I'm lovin' the second 1834 toning and luster! Such a beauty!

Thanks for the complements, I have been working on the 1834-1838 Half Eagle Varieties for 3-4 years now. I have 22 out of the 34 known and there are 3 that are almost show stoppers, not because of price but because of scarcity.

Bump, sorry it took so long to get the diagnostics in and I did not realize we cannot edit our own posts after a certain amount of time.

So below is the original post with the updated diagnostics. There are many more diagnostics but I provided enough to identify all of the known 1834 half eagle varieties.

Please feel free to use this thread as a resource.
